The Director of Communication is responsible for shaping and maintaining the positive public image of the hotel by developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies.

Key objectives include:

  • Securing media coverage in local, regional, and national markets through proactive relationship-building and strategic outreach
  • Coordinating community engagement initiatives to maximize visibility and brand awareness
  • Collaborating with the marketing team to ensure consistent messaging and aligned media relations and social media strategies

The ultimate goal is to maintain an exceptional reputation for the hotel among the media, the public, owners, guests, and staff, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and excellence.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven project management expertise with the ability to deliver results on time
  • Strong understanding of public relations writing, including press releases, biographies, and fact sheets
  • Experience in social media community management and optimization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the property in the community and build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, analyze data, and extract insights
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the market and its trends
  • People-oriented, with the ability to build relationships across all stakeholder groups

Experience:

  • 5+ years of Public Relations experience, preferably in the hospitality industry
  • Significant communications experience that includes a blend of strategy and media relations
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing, and Public Relations

General Skills:

  • Attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow up on tasks
  • Clear thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of guest information and hotel data
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Technical Skills:

  • Strong track record of achieving tangible outcomes in a competitive communications environment
  • Ability to coach and support senior leaders as spokespeople

Language:

  • Proficiency in English, with fluency in other languages a plus
