Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (40 hours)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Responsible for registering new referrals to clinical programs and other insurance reimbursable programs, including opening a chart in eHana and ensuring entry of all new client information in a timely manner from the date received including complete insurance information.
  • Responsible for updating insurance and demographic data as necessary in conjunction with the Patient Care Coordinators.
  • Responsible for reviewing billing error reports and correcting any missing or incorrect information leading to billing errors.
  • Responsible for ongoing eligibility verification.
  • Responsible for monitoring Prior Authorizations and compliance of clinicians

Billing Specific Duties:

  • Receive and process information on new referrals and work with program supervisor to schedule intake and send out intake and consent package.
  • Register new clients and create patient record with complete and accurate demographic and insurance information.
  • Enter all required fields of information in EHR system
  • Verify Insurance eligibility and benefits. Determine co-pay.
  • Enter initial authorized visits.
  • Monitor the tracking of PA's to assure clinicians are up to date. Issue reminders to clinicians to complete new authorization requests.
  • Run nightly EVS reports.
  • Identify and correct any insurance discrepancies/changes.
  • Receive billing "send back"/error reports and correct errors involving missing or incorrect data.
  • Collaborate with program staff to assure that insurance information is being checked and updated.
  • Responsible to reconcile daily deposit put together by Patient Care Coordinators
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School degree or GED is required.
  • Associates or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Two years' experience working in a medical or behavioral health practice environment in a similar position is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Must be detail orientated and able to work independently
  • Must possess strong computer skills
  • Ability to interact with patience and sensitivity in all contact with individuals.
