The National Domestic Violence Hotline (The Hotline) receives significant Federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services, Family Violence Prevention Services Act (FVPSA), and the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC). Increasing Foundation grant funding for The Hotline is vital to expand the organization’s capacity. The Grants Manager is primarily responsible for federal pre-award and post-award activities in partnership with their supervisor, the Director of Grants. The Grants Manager will secondarily conduct grant prospecting and proposal/report writing for foundation grant awards. This position will work closely with internal staff and department heads to ensure federal grant compliance.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


• Ensure successful grant writing, application development, and submission for Federal funding, including working with all departments to gather information, create a narrative, and ensure approval of leadership for grant deliverables.

• Prospect identification and research of Federal funding opportunities

• Collaborate with Director of Grants and department leadership to identify/create Federal grant projects that align with the organization’s strategic plan and prospective funding.

• Oversees Federal funder objectives and deliverables, through tracking and through internal and external reporting, to ensure all requirements are met as outlined in the funding agreement(s) and within the funding period.

• Supports integrated coordination among departments for the lifecycle of Federal grants from project development through award, implementation, and reporting.

• Convenes project teams by hosting semi-regular meetings with project leads on Federal objectives to identify overlap between departments and mitigate barriers to completion.

• Maintain effective communication with staff responsible for project elements to establish and secure the flow of information among departments in order to achieve project success and meet funder expectations.

• Monitor sub-recipient programmatic compliance with the terms and conditions of the grant award. Meet with sub-recipients as needed and support their portions of required reporting.

• Complete and submit required Federal reports and Federal office communication such as grant notes and grant adjustments/modifications. All budget modifications will be prepared and submitted by finance.

• Develop procedures and templates to ensure compliance, including monthly data collection, backup documentation, and narrative reports.

• Inform the supervisor (Director of Grants) when/if funder compliance and/or deliverables may not be met within the project timeline and/or funding period.

• Oversee accurate and complete records of all activities associated with each funder.

• Support monitoring visits and audits as needed.

• In partnership with finance, ensure that key staff employment, changes, and vacancies, are tracked throughout the funding period and documented with the funder.

• Support prospect research for foundation grant opportunities.

• Support foundation pre-award and post-award processes as needed.

• Complete foundation applications and reports as requested/as time allows.

Requirements:

Education & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field

• Three years related experience

• Equivalent combination of education and experience


Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide leadership in the oversight and monitoring of projects.

• Ability to set schedules and coordinate contract requirements among multiple departments.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Preferred experience with Raiser’s Edge.

• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidence.

• Superior written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals and reports

• Strong editing skills

• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Experience with grant proposal writing and report writing

• Experience applying for and monitoring federal awards

• Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies

• Strong attention to detail

• Flexibility; ability to approach successes and challenges as a learning opportunity

Other Requirements/Working Conditions

• This is a hybrid role, based in Austin, Texas.

• This position requires a minimum of 2 days a week in the office. Specific days are to be determined by the department's needs.

• Must have a home workspace that is confidential, secure and free from distraction.

• Must maintain a stable internet connection with at least 10 MBPS download and 2 MBPS upload speeds.

• Must maintain standards of confidentiality related to agency information.

• Prolonged sitting or standing using keyboard, phone, and computer.
