The Common Market is seeking a highly motivated and creative Communications Associate to join our team. As a nonprofit regional food distributor, we are on a mission to connect communities and institutions to local, sustainable food from family farms. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and executing various communication efforts to promote our mission and engage our audiences.

As the Communications Associate, your tasks will include assisting in the development and execution of communication strategies, managing social media platforms, writing and editing content for various channels, maintaining the organization's website, and supporting the design and production of marketing materials. You will closely collaborate with the Communications Director to ensure the Salesforce CRM is kept up-to-date and assist in implementing cybersecurity measures. Moreover, you will be in charge of ensuring consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in communications, marketing, or a similar role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Salesforce CRM and report generation
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity management and threat mitigation
  • Proficiency in social media management and content creation
  • Experience with website content management systems (Craft CMS)
  • Knowledge of graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Passion for sustainable food systems and promoting local, sustainable food
  • Office Location: Philadelphia - Candidates located commuting distance to our Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston or Chicago hubs will be considered
