Position Title: Social Media Specialist

Purpose: As a Social Media Specialist at WeGo Transit, you will be instrumental in crafting engaging social media posts and other digital assistance. Your role will involve building community relationships, cultivating transit advocates, and creating strategic content development.

Position Requires: We are looking for a candidate with strong emotional intelligence (EQ) and a proactive approach to communication and brand management. The ideal candidate will have at least four to six years of experience, though more is welcome, along with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a robust background in social media management and analytics, and the ability to craft messages that effectively engage diverse audiences.

Reports to: Outreach Supervisor and or Outreach Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Social Media Management (50% of the time)
    • Develop and curate engaging content for various social media platforms.
    • Create and maintain a Social Content Calendar to ensure timely and impactful posts.
    • Manage social media advertising campaigns and community engagement efforts.
    • Monitor social media channels for timely responses and during emergencies.
  2. Customer Escalation Management (30% of time)
    • Address escalated customer complaints received via social media platforms.
    • Collaborate with teams to gather relevant information for complaint investigations.
    • Craft clear and effective communications to resolve customer concerns.
  3. Communications (20% of time)
    • Assist in reviewing and updating transit schedules and informational materials.
    • Draft internal news stories and assist in editing internal communications.
    • Contribute to public awareness campaigns and marketing initiatives.
    • Support in preparing presentations and promotional materials as needed.
  4. Additional Duties
    • Flexibility to work additional hours for special projects or events as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum four years of experience in social media management, communications, or marketing roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
