The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) is the home to Africentric theological engagement. The ITC develops Prophetic Problems Solvers who advance God’s mission of love, justice, and restoration in the world. The ITC seeks a transformative and visionary leader who will advance its rich history of Africentric theology while leading a historic transformation of the campus into an ecologically responsible, tech-savvy, community-embedded hub of the future. The Interim President is the institution's chief executive and administrative officer who will collaborate closely with the Board of Trustees and internal and external stakeholders to provide overall leadership and direction for the institution. Alongside an effective leadership team, the Interim President plans, organizes, coordinates, directs, and administers all the institution's departments, programs, activities, and budgets. Understanding the challenges to theological education, the Interim President will:

•Serve as the primary advocate of the institution’s Christian Africentric vision and mission and communicate them to internal and external stakeholders.

•Ensure the development and implementation of the institution’s strategic aims, objectives, and related policies in support of the institution’s mission.

•Expand the institution’s resources through fundraising activities and the development of relationships with key stakeholders, including the business, commercial, and philanthropic sectors.

•Enhance the quality of academic and support programs of the institution while advancing the institution’s commitment to Christian Africentric education.

•Maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for prospective and current students to enhance their experience as well as fostering a positive relationship with alumni.

•Responsible for identifying, disclosing and appropriately managing any conflicts of interest that may arise in the course of duties.

•Ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion, which includes but is not safeguarding privacy of students, faculty staff and donors, and the institutions communications and records.

•Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national African American religious communities, as well as with other religious and civic organizations.

•Champion initiatives that support student success, including recruitment, retention, academic support and career placement.

•Leadership - Drives development of positive and healthy organizational culture, modeling exemplary ethics and business practices; motivates colleagues to excel, demonstrating commitment to institutional mission and standards of excellence.

•Diversity - Commits to cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•A terminal degree in a discipline or field related to theological and/or higher education.

•A minimum of 7 years of progressive theological administrative and executive leadership.

•Experience with professional and regional accrediting organizations related to theological and higher education.

•Commitment to the mission of theological institutions, especially the importance of the Africentric mission and vision of the institution.

•Experience in oral and written communication demonstrating the ability to understand theological research, organize thoughts, communicate to diverse audiences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Substantial expertise in senior management, executive level position in higher education or senior management experience outside of higher education that provided the candidate with the capacity to serve as a university president.

•A record of effective leadership of graduate-level faculty and academic operations.

•Successful experience facilitating accreditation related processes related to the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and/or the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
