We are hiring for a Staff Accountant I to join the team The Staff Accountant I will report to the Assistant Controller and is mainly responsible for performing, under minimal supervision, duties to include creating, recording, and tracking invoices and assisting Accounts Payable with processing of invoices, purchase orders, and accounts payable payments. The individual will also be responsible for performing a variety of Accounting and Finance tasks to support the Finance Department.


Responsibilities:

  • Review and process vendor invoices for appropriate documentation, as well as maintain vendor files.
  • Assist with the processing of weekly ACH, check and wire payments.
  • Assist with the month-end close; prepare monthly journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Research and vendor contact for outstanding checks and escheat preparation payment research.
  • Research and broker contact for outstanding credit balances.
  • System application for auto and direct debit vendor payments.
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of 1099’s annually.
  • Provide backup for other department members.
  • Assist with special projects as requested.
  • Reconcile, analyze, and review various Expense and Liability Accounts.
  • Performs month-end close responsibilities as assigned in accordance with established time frames and assists internal and external auditing process.
  • Performs ad-hoc research and payment analysis for management as needed.
  • Works closely with compliance and sales support teams to develop and improve procedures to ensure broker set-ups are processed completely and accurately.
  • Process payments via ACH/Wire/Check weekly/monthly/quarterly/as needed for other books of business.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or comparable/equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting process, procedures, and principles.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is critical with excellent time management skills.
  • Flexibility and organizational skills to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly.
  • Computer literate and very highly proficient in using MS office programs.
  • Results and performance driven.
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities and works independently.
  • Effective team player with good interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Works and relates well with colleagues and customers across all locations and cross-functionally.
  • Must have behavioral sensitivity, maturity, diplomacy, and tact in addressing complex situations.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Performs responsibilities with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity, including confidentiality.
  • Employee is required to have at minimum an internet speed of 75 Mbps (standard high-speed internet access).

Working Conditions:

  • Flexibility to work in an office and/or at-home, remote office environment.
  • Schedule flexibility is occasionally necessary in this position. Individual may be required to attend key business/departmental meetings and/or perform certain business critical job functions outside of normal working hours.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to communicate internally and externally through receiving and responding to auditory and visual methods.


Competitive base pay starting at $52,073 annually.

Compensation is based on prior/relevant experience and skill level in a similar role.
