The Senior Survey Technician is a key member of our surveying team, responsible for overseeing and executing complex surveying projects in the office. This role involves a high level of expertise in surveying principles, software, data analysis, project coordination, and leadership of survey technicians.
 
Key Responsibilities

Data Management and Analysis
  • Lead the transfer, organization, processing, and analysis of field data, working collaboratively with the survey team to maintain the highest data integrity.
  • Utilize advanced software and tools for data processing and analysis.
  • Analyze data, assist with boundary resolution, and work closely with Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) on final boundary decisions.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure the survey technicians and field staff understand what is needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Review safety requirements including PPE and required training with Project Manager then relay information to field crew.
Team Leadership and Mentoring
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced technicians and crew members.
  • Assist Survey Techs I, II, & III in task assignments, work scheduling, and project coordination.
Client Interaction
  • Communicate with project managers and clients, ensuring that project requirements are met, issues are addressed, and project progress is reported accurately.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide technical expertise and insights.

Qualifications
  • An Educational background in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of technical experience in progressively responsible surveying roles.
  • Extensive experience with AutoCAD drafting, data processing, and reviewing final surveying deliverables.
  • Proficiency in the use of advanced surveying instruments and software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and procedures.
  • Must be detail oriented and have exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

The Senior Survey Technician works in the office, providing advanced technical support and leadership in surveying operations. This role involves indoor work, data processing, and close collaboration with survey teams.
