In addition, we partner with our clients to build customized websites, e-commerce-based fulfillment, and database management.

 

HKM is seeking a full-time Data Processing Specialist, Direct Mail to join our energetic and dynamic team.  We are looking for individuals who are both mechanically inclined and who have the ability to think outside the box. Candidates must have solid work experience. We want to hire individuals who have a positive and energetic attitude, are dependable, have the desire to learn and are able to work overtime when needed.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Processing Specialist is primarily responsible for managing and executing variable data printing projects for our clients. This position will integrate customer data for processing in a print production environment, perform data conversion, cleansing, mapping, and validation to prepare for mail production.

 

SHIFT/HOURS

  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Occasional extended hours/flexibility to meet critical deadlines

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand variable data printing requirements and project specifications to convert data and support workflows
  • Comply with client supplied business rules and internal standards
  • Complete data cleansing and validation
  • Set up and manage variable data templates using specialized software
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout the variable data printing process
  • Implement personalized content based on data fields (e.g., names, addresses, images) provided by clients
  • Perform quality checks to verify that variable data elements merge correctly with print layouts
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to variable data processing and printing
  • Optimize variable data workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce turnaround times
  • Coordinate with print production teams to schedule and prioritize variable data printing jobs
  • Maintain organized records of variable data templates and project specifications for future reference
  • May create or support Fusion Pro templates as it relates to final page setup
  • Assist with production support to correct discrepancies
  • Seek and recommend solutions and design improvements
  • Apply security best practices when working with client data
  • Estimate and deliver projects on time
  • Levering tools to comply with domestic and international mailing regulations
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to variable data printing and personalization
  • Provide off-hours support if necessary
  • Other duties as assigned


EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, graphic design, marketing, or a related field a plus
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with Variable Data Print (VDP) system solutions, such as XMPie, Quark, InDesign, Fusion Pro, or equivalent software
  • Fusion Pro experience a PLUS
  • USPS Business entry knowledge
  • BCC mail Manager or equivalent knowledge
  • Proven experience working in commercial print production, with a focus on variable data printing
  • Proficiency in variable data software and tools such as Adobe InDesign, XMPie, or similar applications
  • Strong understanding of data management principles and databases
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients and internal teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with digital print technologies and variable content optimization is a plus
  • Understands variable data print (VDP) processes and digital print technologies
  • Manipulates text data files to prepare the variable data print solution
  • Can use scripting languages, such as JavaScript, to control data and variable images dynamically
  • Proactively plans and communicates VDP changes to the customer onboard group to improve FastTrack product setup and customer experience. Documents new product specifications
  • Uses problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues for permanent resolution- on new items and current items that may be returned or rejected by production
  • Software such as Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Logic Programming using JavaScript
  • Data schema modeling
  • Programming techniques
  • Reliable and have the flexibility to work overtime when needed

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Clean and temperature- controlled work environment
  • General office setting - sitting for long periods of time, daily repetitive motion
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, walk stairs and production floor
  • Must be able lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
  • The noise level in this work environment is low to moderate
