About the role:


Comtech Telecommunications Corp. is actively seeking a highly motivated Production Manager to collaborate closely with the Manufacturing management team. The primary objective is to ensure our site consistently meets or surpasses our expanding growth targets. The success of the appointed individual will be contingent upon the team's adept execution of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to fulfill customer volume commitments. As the Production Supervisor, the chosen candidate will be tasked with leading and developing the Manufacturing team by setting performance targets, overseeing the daily departmental standard work, and providing robust developmental leadership for our thriving team. This role plays a crucial part within the leadership team, fostering both individual and collective team growth.

Daily responsibilities

  • Ensure the manufacturing of quality products through departmental standards and procedures and continuous quality, safety, and efficiency improvement efforts.
  • Manage labor needs to improve labor efficiency.
  • Hands-on leadership to drive operational efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Utilize continuous improvement (PPI) tools to determine root causes of problems (RCCM), implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPA), and partner with Quality on RCCM for customer complaints and CFPY to increase yields.
  • Mentor team members to achieve results and solve problems using the tier management system.
  • Enable team to reach their career aspirations through the creation of effective IDP and mentoring.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary focal point for all operations content.
  • Partner and collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Applies improvement strategies across multiple work cells
  • Understands cost drivers and how to mitigate them inclusive of test yield, manufacturing yield, scrap, etc.
  • Drives the execution of operational and business strategies to support growth
  • Responsible for managing Operations cost and schedule performance
  • Develop process improvement opportunities to ensure the efficiency of operations and cost-effectiveness
  • Leads process, materials, and logistics problem resolution to ensure availability of materials and smooth operations
  • Partners with internal customers to understand customer needs and issues and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Effectively manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime. Ensures quality, cost, schedule, and inventory goals are achieved in a manner consistent with the overall business plan
  • Oversees employees in the manufacturing facility to ensure safe, efficient, and effective productivity.
  • Reduces expenses and increases productivity across all product lines.
  • Set clear and profitable production goals and effectively communicate them to key personnel.
  • Engages actively with other company members to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
  • Prepares the daily production report accurately, on time, and completely.

Skills:

  • Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety.
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as in a group
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Must be a team player and be comfortable in a multi-task and task-switching environment
  • Clear communicator with the ability to generate and deliver messages to diverse audiences
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Suite of Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, etc)
  • Experience with ERP systems (such as CostPoint)
  • Lean manufacturing and process improvement experience
  • Experience leading diverse teams in an Operations environment
  • Familiarity with AS9145
  • Demonstrated change agent furthering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive work environments
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and developing successful teams.
  • Authority in analyzing and communicating data to enable decision-making.
  • Ability to work collaboratively globally and influence technical employees, peers, and management without jeopardizing relationships.
  • Ability to model role model leadership and reward the same to the team.
  • Empower a culture of change and be a "Champion for Quality"
  • Excellent communication is required. This includes written and spoken communications with team members, peers, and senior management.

Requirements:

  • Electronics Manufacturing experience
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and 6 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of experience
    • STEM degree preferred
  • 5+ Years' experience in manufacturing operations.
  • 2+ years' experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Ability to obtain Secret Level Security Clearance
  • Ability to travel as needed
