New Business Development Associate

The New Business Development Associate (NBDA) will assist in the Company's efforts to identify, pre-qualify, and vet strategic opportunities that complement the Company's global distribution portfolio and capabilities.

Key performance indicators will include signing interesting brands for exclusive distribution. This role will work in conjunction with internal and external sourcing teams, and report directly to the SVP, Strategy & New Business Development.

Key Focus:

The New Business Development Associate (NBDA) role will focus on various short/mid/long term projects, assisting in research, lead list creation, lead matriculation management, and strategic reporting.

  • Pre-call Preparation: Develop methods for brand, founder, sales, and sentiment analyses. Conduct "post-call" follow-ups, including one-page note summaries and tracking progress through the sales funnel.
  • Relationship Cultivation: Assist team leaders in building relationships with industry contacts and brand leaders.
  • Data Management: Maintain and manage your funnel of leads using internal CRM systems and Google Sheets, including lead profiles, follow-ups, conversation notes, and tags.
  • Lead Reporting: Manage regular reporting on lead progress to management.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Partner with the Strategy team, internal/external brand leaders, and regional leaders to identify categories and companies of interest, staying ahead of industry trends.
  • Market Intelligence: Collect market and competitive intelligence through online tools and new business development activities.
  • Market Research: Identify new market opportunities and understand market trends.
  • Lead Generation: Find and attract potential clients and partners.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement sales plans to meet company targets.
  • Negotiation: Handle contract negotiations and close deals.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with teams to improve products or services based on market feedback.
  • Brand Positioning: Enhance the company's market presence and brand recognition.
  • Sourcing Process: Assist in evolving and managing a sustainable sourcing process to identify, screen, evaluate, prioritize, engage, negotiate, and integrate target companies.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to leverage data, manage leads, and close deals.
  • Pitch Decks and Presentations: Assist with drafting pitch decks, presentations, and reference materials.
  • Integration Planning: Support the development of a comprehensive integration plan, monitoring post-closing integration progress and performance.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects concurrently, leveraging in-house and outsourced tools and teams while meeting deadlines.
  • Visitor Assistance: Assist visitors and customers.
  • Warehouse Tours: Assist with warehouse tours.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of relevant experience and ability to quickly understand all phases of the sourcing process including identification, screening, evaluation, prioritization, relationship building with
  • Experience in targeting companies, developing business cases, conducting due diligence, and handling negotiations
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • High aptitude for learning and adapting to new environments and challenges
  • Strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking ability
  • Proficiency in office tools such as Outlook, Slack, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and CRMs (including Google Sheets)
  • Experience in beauty, wellness, fashion, or adjacent categories is a plus

Compensation:

  • Salary commensurate upon experience ($20.00-$28.00 per hour)
  • Medical, dental, vision available on the first of the month after 60 days
  • 401K available after 12mths in full time capacity
  • 10 paid days off to start, plus holidays
  • Under normal circumstances, approximate travel of 10-15% of the year
