This position will be based in Midland, Texas. Job Summary:

The Pump Mechanic plays a critical role in the maintenance of company equipment. The pump mechanic makes repairs and rebuilds pumps. Will update the team on progress – ensuring the equipment is ready and in good working condition. They ensure that the equipment is well positioned to meet the ever-evolving needs of the company and our customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Equipment service, rebuilding, and repair

  • In-house and field pump and mechanical service / repair
  • Performs varied mechanical duties such as dismantling, rigging, repairing, and installing pulleys, power shafts, hoists, conveyers, and other facility equipment.
  • Starts up and shuts down equipment in line with company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Tests equipment for proper operation after repairs, changeovers, or excessive down time.
  • Performs quality welding as needed.
  • Operates drill press and precision tools.
  • Performs layout and fabrication work.
  • Repairs, assembles and/or disassembles gear boxes, pumps, transmissions, and other machinery in accordance with proper specifications and techniques.
  • Performs basic pipe fitting as applied to threaded and welded joints.
  • Reads and correctly interprets information contained in equipment and vendor manuals.
  • Uses cutting torch to accomplish freehand cutting of metals and/or heating of parts.
  • Provides valve/bearing maintenance inclusive of packing, lubricating and replacement/repair.
  • Performs basic layout, equipment rigging, some minor machinist duties & most commonly used power tools.
  • Repair, fabricate, install, and remove a variety of centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, and reciprocating pumps as well as other related rotating equipment either in-house or in the field.
  • Properly lubricates assigned plant/shop equipment as per routine schedule.
  • Scrapes paint, grease, and accumulated material from equipment.
  • Responds to daily calls and emergency equipment repair call outs as required.

Electrical

  • Maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of all electronics, electrical, controls, instrumentation, and computer-based equipment related to pumps.
  • Test solid-state circuitry to find defective parts in digital and analog equipment and replace, rebuild, and wire instrumentation as required.
  • Enforce the company maintenance program
  • Complete equipment repairs and calibrations
  • Complete equipment maintenance inspections as per schedule
  • Prepare and fill out all work orders or inspection forms
  • Attend team meetings or safety meetings
  • Visually inspect equipment in the yard/shop/location and address any deficiency

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a pump mechanic.
  • Prior experience with oilfield equipment and pumps.
  • Prior experience pumps and engines (Scania, Cornell, John Deere, Cat, Pioneer, Costal pumps)
  • Preferred Automotive and Automation experience.
  • Experience diagnosing & repairing equipment.
  • Welding capabilities
  • Experience computer skills - Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel- and computer software.
  • Ability to use a Smartphone
  • Ability to work in all climates

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.

Qualification Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certifications in mechanical or pump repair required
  • Vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in mechanical or pump repair or related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Prior experience with oilfield equipment and pumps is required.
  • Experience working with pumps and engines are required (Scania, Cornell, John Deere, Cat, Pioneer, Costal pumps).
  • Experience rebuilding fluid ends is required.
  • Experienced computer skills and software skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
  • Work is performed in a machine shop.
  • Work is primarily performed standing or walking.
  • Frequently lift, carry and/or position objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
