Job DescriptionJob Description

The Pathology Operations Associate II (POA II) is integral to the execution of the pathology workflow and day to day operations at CND Life Sciences. The POA II works closely with team members and leadership, collaborating with laboratory staff, Quality, R&D, and other key departments as needed to achieve success when executing high-quality, compliant practices. The POA II applies key skillsets and expertise to facilitate routine digital pathology workflows of the Company. Technical functions performed by the POS II include but are not limited to slide scanning using the Company's slide scanners, coordination image analysis using the Company's NerValence System and assistance with slide distribution to local and off-site MDs for review. The POA II utilizes Company platforms, tools, and resources to assess and track slide & case statuses to ensure turnaround time (TAT) and chain of custody compliance are met and exceeded. The POA II will have extreme awareness of and appreciation for the precision and accuracy required for inputting clinical information, pathology data, and other elements into LIMS to enable report generation. The POA II plays a huge role in helping close out each month of patient pathology reports and conducting quality assurance on a consistent basis.

Job Responsibilities:

Pathology Operations Duties

  • Oversee the commercial pathology workflow
  • Perform routine slide scanning and digital analysis using the company's scanners and associated software.
  • Seamlessly plan and assist with weekly case distribution to full-time and contracted affiliates by following strict state licensure and volume requirements.
  • Support pathology operations with packaging slide shipments for offsite affiliates.
  • Provide accurate case status updates and metrics weekly to Pathology leadership using current LIMS platform.
  • Upload relevant case documentation to LIMS.
  • Resolve and locate missing patient documentation in LIMS to maintain timely pathology report generation.
  • Transcribe MD results into LIMS to facilitate pathology report generation.
  • Generate pathology reports and facilitate the movement of generated reports to the appropriate MD for finalization.
  • Provide QA/QC measures on generated pathology reports.
  • Assist with identifying, writing, and updating SOPs that outline standard practices and become part of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Attend/lead select meetings and assist with activities as assigned by operation leaders.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in Digital Pathology or a similar role for a medical or molecular diagnostics company
  • Experience with whole slide imaging supporting image annotation, histopathology data collection and interpretation, preferred.
    • Experience with Olympus VS200 a plus
  • Strong aptitude for QA/QI/QC.
  • Familiarity and competency with good laboratory practices.
  • Strong interest in working in a start-up environment.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills and ability to present to company colleagues and leaders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work, including achieving assigned timelines for deliverables.
  • Proactive work style and willingness to take initiative (with proper guidance from managers).
  • Strong desire to learn and develop professionally.

Education, Certification & Licensures:

  • Associates degree in related science field required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certifications in laboratory medicine, pathology assistance and/or digital pathology preferred.

Other:

  • Combination of seated and standing work to complete the core functions of the role.
  • Adherence to company safety policy.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Company's Scottsdale, AZ headquarters approximately five (5) days a week
  • Availability to work one weekend a month on a rotating basis.
  • Shift: Sunday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
