Position: Finance Associate

Team: Finance


Primary Objective of Position:

The Finance Associate provides daily financial and analytical services support to Electric Machinery's internal and external customers. This position ensures the reporting and analysis of actual performance; using various metrics and comparing against historical and budgetary benchmarks. Additionally, will perform a variety of routine duties in the accounts payable function and staff accounting activities.


Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Prepares reporting for month end close; analysis supporting internal and external demand of the finance department.
  • Inputs general ledger accounts, orders, projects, margins, and any variance in execution.
  • Analyzes expenses and general account trends.
  • Maintains and supports Accounts Payable Aging, communicating with other Branches and Departments.
  • Responsible for entering invoices and verifying accuracy against purchase orders and actual receipt of items posted in the system.
  • Clarifies any questionable invoice items, prices, or receiving signatures; obtains proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments.
  • Works collaboratively with vendors and internal buyers regularly; resolving discrepancies or problems with invoices or purchase orders.
  • Responsible for maintaining copies of vouchers, invoices, and correspondence for electronic filing.
  • Provides ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required to meet business objectives.
  • Works on various projects as directed by the Controller and President.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required):

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 2 + years professional experience with financial analytical background.
  • Understanding of forecast, budget, and reporting processes.
  • Demonstrated Computer knowledge of current operating systems and software common to business applications including; Outlook, Word, Intermediary Excel proficiency, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong capability for in-person communication as well as other social interface with internal and external customers required, and achieving customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with exceptional interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to deal effectively with internal and external customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Preferred):

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business or MS.
  • Interest in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with SAP + Business intelligence tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with difficult internal and external customers through oral and written communication.
  • A willingness to be open-minded, flexible, learn from others, and a desire to work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to use telephone, computer, computer monitor, mouse, and keyboard for extended periods of time, in order to complete assigned tasks and duties.
  • Regularly and timely come into the office Monday – Friday.
  • On occasion extended hours or overtime maybe required.
  • Must be able to use copier and scanner on an intermittent basis.
