Job Summary
The Finance Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily financial activities of the organization.

This role collaborates closely with the
CFO to establish and uphold effective financial procedures, policies, and controls to guarantee precise data entry and timely financial reporting.

This position serves as the administrator for the Sage Intacct general ledger, managing the chart of accounts, vendor setup, report generation, and all other general ledger-related tasks.

Additionally, the role is actively involved in the formulation and assessment of the Profit & Loss statement, cash flow reports, and balance sheets, including the management of endowment structures and the release of restricted funds.

RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Accounting
Oversees the month-end closing process, which includes the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Reviews and reconciles reports of general contributions and restricted donations, ensuring appropriate journal entries are recorded.
Examines and reconciles journal entries associated with tuition, fees, and scholarships.
Manages the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes, including aging, payment terms, and collections.

Responsible for the cash flow management process, including bank reconciliations, forecasting cash needs, and providing cash flow recommendations to the
CFO.

Leads the preparation of monthly financial statements, including the Profit & Loss statement, cash flow reports, and balance sheets for the executive team.
Prepares for the annual audit.
Assists the
CFO in preparing materials for the Audit and Finance Committee and Investment Committee.
Collaborates with external auditors for the preparation of the 990 forms.
Department Responsibilities
Acts as the systems administrator for Sage Intacct, which includes managing the chart of accounts, vendor setup, and dynamic report development.
Develops and maintains financial procedures, policies, and internal controls that ensure clarity of operations and accuracy of financial statements.
Maintains Fixed Asset policies, tracking, and depreciation schedules, and leads the annual capital planning process.
Partners with the Finance Analyst to create accounting procedures for grant activities and provide necessary data for reporting.
Trains and supports the finance team and department management on financial monitoring and expense coding.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

CPA
5+ years of accounting experience in a non-profit environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Proficiency with accounting software, particularly in system administration; experience with Sage Intacct or similar systems is preferred.
High level of accuracy, efficiency, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse cultures.
Self-motivated, capable of solving problems independently, and able to navigate all levels of an organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
