The Development Assistant for Donor Engagement and Communications provides administrative support directly to the Director of Donor Engagement and Communications as well as broader program support for both halves of the team.

Specifically, you will:
  • Provide support to the Director of Donor Engagement and Communications related to the day-to-day operations of the team.
  • Assist with administrative processes by implementing office procedures and systems, including tasks related to the Raiser’s Edge donor database, Spiceworks virtual ticket system, Campaign Monitor email marketing system, work orders for the Editorial and Graphic Design department and Photography Studio, invoice transmittals with the Finance department, and more.
  • Provide assistance for all events and programs managed by Donor Engagement, including tasks related to compiling invitation lists, sending out mailings, tracking RSVPs, processing returned mail, and day-of staffing.
  • Provide assistance for select communications projects managed by Donor Communications, including tasks related to the magazine, newsletter, impact reports, stewardship reports, publications, letters, proposals, and other reports.
  • Draft select templated correspondence, including acknowledgment letters.
  • Support stewardship and donor recognition activities in collaboration with the Director of Donor Engagement and Communications.
  • Assist with agendas and follow-up minutes for significant meetings and programs, as assigned.
  • Serve as a checks-and–balances system to ensure Director of Donor Engagement and Communications manages all deadlines.
  • General office duties shared with all Development Assistants and Coordinators, including answering general phone line and collecting mail, assisting with large projects and mailings, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Your background and experience include:
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to be flexible and creative.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge desirable.


Position and Compensation Details
  • The hourly rate for this position is $17.08.
  • This position is Full-Time, Non-Exempt, and 35 hours per week.
  • This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.
  • This position reports to the Deputy Director and Chief Advancement Officer.
  • Physical requirements:
    • Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
  • Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
