Purpose:
The Data Analyst will work to develop and distribute reports on a scheduled basis both internally and externally. The ideal candidate will be responsible for extracting, analyzing, and transforming data to produce both internal and external reports, ensuring data accuracy, and providing actionable insights. The individual will work closely with various departments, including sales, operations, and manufacturer partners, to understand their reporting needs and provide data-driven solutions. In addition, the Data Analyst will work with external partners to collect and load data into the Vanscoy Rare data warehouse. The Data Analyst at Vanscoy Rare Pharmacy will provide strategic and tactical support to the Analytics team and will report directly to the VP, Business Development and Strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize SQL and Snowflake to query large datasets, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of data for reporting purposes.
  • Design, create, and maintain both internal and external reports, dashboards, and visualizations that communicate key insights to stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams and manufacturer partners to understand reporting needs, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely and accurate data.
  • Developing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, views and other scripts as necessary to generate data
  • Utilizing SSIS to generate packages that will clean and import data from external sources as well as export data
  • Independently perform root-cause analysis to identify and resolve issues quickly
  • Identifying key trends reports for Vanscoy Rare Pharmacy management and external partners to drive key decisions
  • Work with management team to define and collect data needed for specific departments and for contractual obligations
  • Work with management to format internal data into dashboards before sharing externally
  • Utilizing an internal scheduling software as well as Windows Task Scheduler to ensure data is distributed at appropriate times
  • Tune and modify existing databases as needed to upgrade functionality
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, processes, and reports for future reference and training purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or related education/equivalent experience
  • 1 – 3 years of hands-on experience in a SQL and/or Snowflake based environment
  • Highly proficient at writing efficient queries, views, indexes, stored procedures and functions within a SQL and/or Snowflake environment
  • Understanding of advanced concepts in relational database management
  • Capacity to quickly familiarize themselves with new software and technologies
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement to manage data in a high paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience using Snowflake for cloud based data warehousing and analysis
  • Advanced Excel knowledge, including Pivot Tables, Advanced Charts/Graphs, VBA.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools and techniques, such as Tableau, PowerBI, QLik
  • Experience writing PowerShell scripts and batch files to move/manipulate files as needed
  • Prior experience with report generating technologies (SQL Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, etc.)
  • Experience with documenting technical processes
  • Familiarity with data governance practices
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and tools
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory
  • Previous pharmaceutical and/or healthcare experience

Work Environment 

This job may operate in a professional office environment and/or remotely from the employee’s home address listed in their employee file. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. When telecommuting employees must have reliable internet access in order to access required systems and software associated with the position's responsibilities. The amount of time the employee is expected to work per day or pay period will not change as a result of participation in the teleworking program. Employees are responsible for the set-up of their home office environment, including physical set-up, internet connection, phone line, electricity, good lighting, comfortable temperature, furniture, etc. Employee’s teleworking space should be separate and distinct from their “home space” and allow for privacy. Vanscoy Rare expects employees teleworking to be as efficient and professional as if they were in the office.
