New Patient Intake PSR/Scheduler

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking an experienced Medical PSR/Scheduler to work full-time Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00 in Lewiston. T . Internally known as an New Patient Intake Coordinator, the successful candidate will support our New Patient Intake Team as the first voice that new patients of NECS have contact with. The Intake Coordinator is responsible for all new patient referrals which include scheduling and communicating with new patient consults for all NECS sites. The coordinator will acquire all necessary records before the new patient consult, manage and resolves appointment conflicts proactively, maintain confidentiality, and meets hard deadlines on scheduling. They will demonstrate superior customer service skills, and the ability to work as an effective collaborator. The Intake Coordinator is an integral part of the patient experience, they are the first contact for newly diagnosed patients and thus set the tone for their experience.

Job Duties:
- Creating new patient accounts in appropriate systems.
- Schedules appointments for patients by phone and sends and assists patients with completing the welcome packet and registration forms.
- Schedules referrals within required time frames; able to triage all referrals for urgency and prioritize work
- Uses computerized systems to match physician/clinician availability with patients' s preferences in terms of date and time.
- Maintains thorough documentation, records, collections and completes chart prep promptly in preparation for consults.
- Keeps a professional and pleasant demeanor under stressful conditions while working with a wide range of patient personalities.
- Uses professional judgment in disclosing information obtained from clients and operated un practice and standard HIPAA guidelines.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Travel: Minimal
- High School Diploma or GED required
- A minimum of 2 years of Medical Secretary experience in the health care field is required.
- Knowledge and application of medical terminology is required.
- Previous experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems required
- Exceptional customer service experience required.
- Exceptional attention to detail required
