About the Team

Alaska Seeds of Change work with young people ages 16-24 to help them develop the vocational and personal skills needed to become successful adults. Alaska Seeds of Change employs and empowers local youth, promoting self-reliance and community involvement, to grow and sell fresh produce.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee and coordinate projects related to the strategic development and expansion of the Seed’s program with management and staff to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager to identify and develop projects and plan implementation, including added-value products, market program, grant projects, etc.
  • Supervise daily activities of youth participants and youth staff, ensuring adherence to schedules and productivity standards.
  • Provide mentorship, regular 1-on-1 check-ins, and support to Shift Leads, ensuring they have the necessary tools for their professional development
  • Coordinate and lead educational field trips and workshops for youth participants and community members.
  • Train staff and youth participants to lead/co-facilitate field trips and workshops.
  • Develop curriculum and activities that align with program goals and enhance vocational learning.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide diverse learning experiences.
  • Facilitate the personal and professional development of the program’s primary beneficiaries (youth participants/apprentices).
  • Work with and support staff, including Program Coordinator in participant coordination.
  • Coordinate and operate various growing systems with fellow staff.
  • Ensure that the essential duties of the various growing systems are being maintained properly.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the greenhouse floor, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
  • Inspect, record, and report on information about growing systems, operations, productivity, and production.
  • Work along staff and apprentices in Ag. activities such as trim, harvest, weigh, package, invoice, and deliver produce for sale.

Good To Know

  • Position is based in Anchorage, Alaska
  • Full-Time, Non-Exempt and the schedule will be 40 hours or less a week
  • Pay Range is between $19.23 - $24.89 an hour DOE
  • AKBH offers generous benefits including two healthcare options for employees and their dependent children, 401k with immediate vesting and up to 5% match, 3% automatically contributed by AKBH, and 5 weeks of PTO for the first year, and 8 weeks of PTO after the first year.
  • This position is eligible for annual incentive opportunities up to 5% of your salary
