The quality manager develops, implements, and manages quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of advanced composite materials and applications (consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals). Interpret and implement standards and specifications relating to ISO, UL, AS9100, Nadcap and customer requirements.

Essential Job Functions

· Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.

· Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.

· Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.

· Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams.

· Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.

· Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.

· Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.

· Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within company.

· Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.

· Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.

· Interact with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts.

· Create and direct environmental test functions and applications.

· Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement teams.

· Design, develop and implement quality control training programs.

Other Job Duties

· Acts as liaison with external parties on matters relating to the quality system.

· Continuous interaction with customers on quality and continuous improvement activities.

Education/Experience/Skills Required

· B.S. Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience or at least ten years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Minimum of 7 years of related experience.

· Supervisory/management experience.

· Aerospace industry experience with a composite structures manufacturer is desired

· Strong working knowledge of the Quality System Regulation, ISO, AS9100, Nadcap and quality standards.

· Exposure to six sigma and lean manufacturing tools desired.

· Strong communication, analytical and technical writing skills are important.

· Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel is essential.

· Computer literate with good working knowledge of Word, Excel & Access.

· Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

· SPC knowledge and experience.

Physical Requirements

· Individual required to be sighted (can be medically corrected), with clear verbal and written communications skills. Job includes lifting of product/supplies ranging from minimal to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Individual will be required to be mobile, with bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.

· Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
