Legal Administrative Assistant - Corporate

Jones Walker, LLP • Jackson, MS


This position will provide administrative and clerical support to attorneys in the Corporate Practice Group and Tax Practice Group. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and has a strong understanding of legal procedures and terminology related to corporate and tax law.


Position Responsibilities:

· Answering phone calls, taking messages, and redirecting calls when appropriate.

· Providing administrative support by creating check requests, reimbursement requests, reserving conference rooms, etc.

· Drafting, formatting, transcribing, and revising all letters, memos, forms, reports, etc. as assigned.

· Organizing and maintaining corporate records including minute books, resolutions, and corporate filings.

· Maintaining daily appointment calendars, booking meetings, making travel arrangements, etc.

· Filing documents with various municipal, county, state, and federal courts and agencies.

· Assisting with the billing process by entering the attorneys’ time, reviewing prebills, and submitting them for invoicing.


Minimum Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent is required; bachelor’s degree or certification in legal studies preferred.

· Three years of experience as a legal secretary/legal assistant with a focus on corporate and tax law.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), document management systems, and legal research databases.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with careful attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

· Pleasant disposition and ability to work with others.

· Must be punctual and maintain the highest professional standards.
