About The Harris Home for Children:

Harris Home for Children, a non-profit organization committed to enriching the lives of youth, is at a crucial stage of growth. We are looking for an Executive Director who can lead our team with passion, integrity, and a solid dedication to our mission. This role is perfect for someone with a strategic vision to enhance our reach and significantly increase our impact within the community.


Role Summary:

The Executive Director will manage all aspects of operations, including resident care and safety, staff management, marketing, public relations, and fundraising. This role requires a leader skilled in building relationships with diverse stakeholders, including youth, staff, the board of directors, volunteers, state partners, and the broader community.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Chief spokesperson, effectively communicating organizational achievements and needs to the public and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing standards, the Reasonable and Prudent Parenting Standard, and organizational policies.
  • Implement and translate the Board's policies and directives into effective programs.
  • Oversee and report on the childcare program's operations, ensuring alignment with established policies.
  • Maintain compliance with local and State DHR reporting requirements.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, overseeing all expenditures.
  • Lead monthly outreach meetings to attract new supporters and contributors.
  • Build and mobilize community relationships to support organizational goals.
  • Maintain detailed records of all contributors and actively supervise the proposal writing process for funding.
  • Secure grants and collaborate with other organizations to obtain funding.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in leadership roles
  • Master's degree required.
  • Proven integrity, honesty, ethical leadership, compassion, and self-motivation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in leadership roles
  • A background in social work is highly advantageous.
  • Strong experience in financial management and non-profit sectors preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience working with children is desirable.
  • Grant writing experience is highly preferred.
