The Senior Financial Executive evaluates the organization's fiscal health and produces regular financial and operational reports; oversees the hospital's financial strategy, revenue cycle, payroll, and accounting functions; and manages treasury, budgeting, auditing, taxation, procurement, real estate, and insurance activities.

This position is responsible for formulating and executing policies and procedures that safeguard assets and adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. It ensures accountability and reporting to governmental agencies and oversees the financial integrity of operations. The individual will also ensure adherence to CHC system-wide financial policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, accrediting agency standards, and hospital policies.
  • Contributes to the development of the facility's strategic plan and objectives to foster growth and service provision to the community; implements approved plans and programs.
  • Financial Oversight: Engages in the preparation and management of operational, project, and capital budgets. Ensures effective risk management, financial controls, productivity measures, reimbursement principles, and contracting. Achieves budget-critical financial metrics while managing all financial and physical resources responsibly.
  • Operational Leadership: Gathers and analyzes data from various sources regarding current business practices in finance, accounting, and information management. Conducts needs assessments, prioritizes requirements, and implements solutions to enhance financial operations.
  • Ensures a sufficient number of qualified staff (including physicians and contract labor) are properly credentialed, trained, and engaged. Directs performance management systems to provide timely feedback, recognize excellence, and address performance issues.
  • Collaborates with the Board, senior management, physicians, and staff to develop and refine strategies for growth and improvement that align with the hospital's mission and address internal and external challenges.
  • Engages with community leaders to assess healthcare needs, promote a positive hospital image, and market services. Actively participates in community service and demonstrates political acumen and diplomacy.

Additional Duties

  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality patient care and services, measuring and reporting quality outcomes to the hospital while fostering continuous improvement.
  • Maintains all hospital accreditations, licenses, and designations in good standing.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements, acting promptly to implement necessary changes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees subordinate managers and staff, providing direction, coordination, and evaluation of all supervised units.
  • Implements supervisory responsibilities in accordance with hospital policies and applicable laws.
  • Evaluates performance and fosters staff development.
  • Addresses complaints, resolves issues, and manages unacceptable behavior.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is required. A CPA designation is preferred, and a graduate-level degree is advantageous.
  • 5 – 7 years of progressive experience in Hospital Finance/Accounting, with prior experience as a Hospital CFO required.
  • Requires managerial experience and a comprehensive understanding of hospital financial reporting, revenue cycle management, accounting, budgeting, accounts payable, treasury, auditing, taxation, payroll, information technology, and materials management.
  • Experience with Medhost is preferred.
