FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Director of Crisis Services

Positions Supervised: None Amount of Travel Required: Occasional, SN Co.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; some on-call work

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Complete admission assessments per agency procedure for all new and returning clients.
  • Facilitate individual and family psychotherapy to meet the Agency’s productivity expectations; psychotherapy and/or interventions will be provided in the office or community.
  • Crisis Clinicians will complete state hospital alternative screens when appropriate.
  • Complete SED Waiver evaluation for youth stepping out of PRTF level of care.
  • Clinicians will complete PRTF pre-authorizations by CBST and face-to-face evaluations in a timely manner as expected by MCOs.
  • Crisis Clinicians will complete daily follow up crisis sessions with youth admitted to YCRC.
  • Crisis Clinicians will follow critical care protocol in order to provide support to youth at risk of suicide as deemed necessary and appropriate by clinical staff.
  • Crisis Clinicians will provide support to agency staff as first responders within the agency during crisis situations.
  • Work collaboratively with the client, family and treatment team to identify treatment goals, objectives and discharge criteria.
  • Maintain a caseload of outpatient clients.
  • Interface with agencies related to child welfare, and mental health.
  • Have a working knowledge of community based services and refer for services as needed.
  • Have an understanding and practice the philosophy of WrapAround Services for the purpose of both assessing needs and delivering services.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings for the purpose of case assignments, case review, individual case planning and collaboration with team members.
  • Complete clinical documentation (admission assessments, progress notes, 90-day progress reviews, outcome measures, etc.) in compliance with time lines established by the Agency’s quality assurance standards as well as those set by funding sources.
  • Crisis Clinicians are also expected to stay informed of agency developments by reading memorandums and other agency related written communication.
  • Respect and demonstrate ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Act as an ambassador of Family Service and Guidance Center in the community setting. This may include doing public educational and informational presentations.
  • Supports and actively promotes the vision and mission of Family Service and Guidance Center and the philosophy of the strengths perspective.
  • Support the community during unexpected tragedies.
  • Provide mobile crisis response as needed.
  • Facilitate psychotherapy groups at a minimum of 2x per week for youth in the YCRC.
  • Other duties as assigned by respective team leaders or supervisors.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure:

  • Master’s degree in a recognized mental health discipline – Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy or Psychology.
  • Valid license to practice independently at the clinical level (LSCSW, LCMFT, etc.) in the state of Kansas.
  • Must successfully pass the KBI and SRS Central Registry background investigations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.
  • Clinicians are expected to complete Managing Aggressive Behavior (MAB), HIPPA and Corporate Compliance training and other trainings as defined by the agency prior to working with clients.

Experience:

  • Must have 1+ years’ experience working with children.
  • Clinicians must exhibit satisfactory verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess and utilize sufficient interpersonal skills to promote teamwork; must be able to collaborate with other team members to deliver optimal services to clients.
  • Exposure and familiarity with MS Office products; ability to type for electronic documentation purposes required.
  • Active membership in professional organizations is strongly encouraged.
  • Clinicians are expected to exhibit good work ethic and be flexible in their weekly work schedule.
  • Effective clinical skills, time management and organizational skills are necessary attributes for this position.

Crisis Clinicians must have sufficient ambulatory capabilities to work with children/youth in the office or community based setting. Requires physical ability to restrain children and adolescents exhibiting out of control behaviors.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Office and Community-Based working environment; requires flexible schedule; frequent interruptions occur; expected to deal with individuals in crisis; risk of exposure to aggressive and/or acting out (verbal and physical) children and youth. Crisis Clinicians shall be available to see clients in the office or in secure community based settings such as hospital emergency rooms or juvenile intake. Clinicians are also subject to peer supervision by their team members and colleagues. Accountability extends beyond this to the client population and agency as a whole.

Supervision:

The Director of Crisis Services shall provide the direct supervision of the Crisis Clinician. The Director of Clinical Services shall also provide direction and supervision. Depending on licensure requirements, individual supervision is available on a discretionary basis.
