Summary
Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for report preparation, specification writing, foundation design, geotechnical calculations, and field explorations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform complex engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration and laboratory analysis
- Evaluate ground conditions and understand their impact on design and construction
- Perform shallow and deep foundation designs and slope stability analysis
- Perform deep foundation analysis for various types of piles
- Geotechnical design of:
- Shoring and bracing systems such as soldier pile lag walls, sheet pile walls, cellular coffer dams, secant pile walls
- Tieback anchors and rock anchors
- Retaining walls such as segmental retaining walls, cantilevered retaining walls, gabion walls, reinforced earth walls
- Conduct seismic studies such as site class determination, liquefaction analysis, site-specific spectral response analysis, liquefaction induced settlement analysis
- Conduct group pile analysis, soil-pile interaction study and lateral load and deflection behavior analysis
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is essential for practicing independently and signing off on designs
- Relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, and specific experience with vertical construction projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Compensation: $80 - 100k annually
