About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Dam Safety Engineer to join our East Region Dams Team. This position will support a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for projects including design, analysis, inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with various hydraulic structures.
  • Prepare and perform quality reviews of other Engineers' work on deliverables such as design calculations, engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of Dam Safety Engineering projects.
  • Responsible for quality control.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Develop engineering proposals.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part-time as needed.
  • Assist and perform the roles of a Project Manager such as maintaining client relationships, contracting, project planning and execution, financial management, technical management, change management, and project team management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 4 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Relevant experience with dams and other hydraulic structures, including rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
  • Experience in relevant geotechnical engineering software programs such as GeoStudio and gINT.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Ability and desire to occasionally travel to project sites, both local and remote.
  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills Effective time-management and interpersonal skills.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state with the ability to successfully apply for reciprocity in additional states.
