Purpose and Scope

To support the Diocese of Phoenix in its mission to Encounter the Living Christ, the Manager of Mental Health Support Services for Catholic Schools will lead and supervise a team of diocesan mental health counselors, ensuring the effective delivery of counseling services and support systems to students across multiple school sites. This role encompasses providing direct counseling services to students and families, as well as offering clinical supervision, guidance, and professional development to diocesan mental health counselors, Catholic School staff, and Diocesan Pastoral Center employees. The Manager is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of care, adhering to ethical and legal guidelines, and contributing as a member of the Office of Mental Health Ministry Team.

· Provide clinical supervision and guidance to diocesan mental health counselors, including case consultation, performance evaluation, and professional development planning.

· Oversee the implementation and evaluation of diocesan counseling programs and interventions, ensuring alignment with best practices and evidence-based approaches.

· Collaborate with Catholic school administrators, Office of Mental Health Ministry, Catholic Schools Office, and community stakeholders to develop policies, procedures, and resources to support the mental health and well-being of students.

· Lead regular team meetings, trainings, and workshops to promote collaboration, communication and skill development among diocesan mental health counselors, Catholic School and Diocesan Pastoral Center staff.

· Serve as a liaison between diocesan mental health counselors, school staff, families, Office of Mental Health Ministry and external agencies to facilitate effective communication and coordination of services.

· Monitor and analyze, in collaboration with school administration, Office of Mental Health Ministry and the Catholic Schools Office, data related to student outcomes, counselor caseloads, and program effectiveness, and make recommendations for program improvement and resource allocation.

· Stay abreast of emerging trends, research, and best practices in the field of school mental health counseling and disseminate relevant information to counselors and stakeholders.

· Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards governing the practice of school-based mental health services.


Additional Job Functions

· Performs other job-related functions as directed.

· Maintains continuous updating of knowledge, attends appropriate regional and national conferences as approved by Supervisor.

· Proficiency in clinical supervision techniques, including case conceptualization, feedback delivery, and performance evaluation.

· Flexibility, resilience, and adaptability in responding to the evolving needs of students, families, and staff.

· Demonstrated success in communications, both oral and written.

· Must have demonstrated advanced administrative skills.

· Working knowledge of general office procedures, including record keeping.

· Ability to identify potential problem areas and utilize problem-solving skills.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

· Ability to travel within the diocese as needed.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

· Active, practicing Catholic in communion with the Church.

· Master’s degree in counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution.

· Demonstrated experience providing counseling services to children and adolescents in a school or clinical setting, with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.

· Strong training, communication, and facilitation skills.


Work Environment

· This job operates in a professional office environment.

· This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Physical Demands

· This is a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
