Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining and providing accurate financial information for timely reporting to management. They have a solid understanding of accounting practices and understand the direct correlations between financial statements such as the balance sheet and income statement. They consistently push forward to develop and enforce best practices for financial controls. They are on the lookout for opportunities to save the company money, make sure bills are paid, and ensure invoices are distributed in a timely manner. They always operate with the values of integrity and honesty on their mind, and are always mindful of safeguarding confidential company information.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly or indirectly supervises employees, temporary or contractor workers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training and engaging employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and provide training to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team members and ensure proper functions and postings within company software.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll general ledger entries including, but not limited to, HSA, FSA and 401k and related entries.
  • Resolve escalated client issues in a manner that creates a Client for Life.
  • Processing the month end close.
    • Managing fixed asset depreciation table
    • Job costing all direct and indirect labor costs.
    • Process trial balance and audit all general ledger accounts.
    • Process accrual and prepaid recurring general ledger entries.
    • Reconcile all deposit and loan accounts.
    • Reconcile and process monthly advanced commissions.
    • Close out completed jobs.
    • Calculate the monthly work in process for all active jobs.
    • Reconcile vendor rebates.
  • Assist in managing accurate and timely flow of financial information required to produce accurate job and product profitability analysis.
  • Calculate job profitability on all completed jobs and report unprofitable jobs to management.
  • Analyze job trends to inform production on needs and forecast timelines.
  • Manage chart of accounts, fixed asset table, depreciation table, loan tables, and amortization schedules as necessary.
  • Reconcile quarterly and annual tax filings including W2s.
  • Manage multi-state payroll tax issues/research and resolve tax notices.
  • Generate payroll data reports for Accounting and various audits.
  • Develop and perform monthly and quarterly closing procedures and journal entries including bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports including, but not limited to, income statements, cash flow projections, and balance sheets.
  • Oversee the payroll functions associated with the Company's 401(k) Plan and ensure the appropriate employee and employer contributions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Process annual 1099s for all trade partners and contractors
  • Develop and implement special financial projects
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Operates safely in all conditions.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
  • 5 years of Accounting experience required
  • 2 years of Controllership or Accounting Manager experience preferred.
  • Management experience required.
  • HRIS system experience required.
  • Job Costing experience preferred.
  • Business Central experience preferred.
  • QuickBase experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with internal controls and GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Professional attitude and appearance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
