Our multidisciplinary team works to create rich and meaningful experiences that will nurture learning and prepare our students for their transition into adulthood and independent living. While our classrooms have four walls, we consider Boston our second classroom and our students are often making meaning and deepening learning throughout the city.

We are seeking an Therapeutic Community Supervisor to join our team. Therapeutic Community Supervisors are leaders within a therapeutic milieu, creative, flexible, and excited by our “whatever it takes” approach to the work. You will work closely with our residential treatment team to provide supportive learning and leisure opportunities to our neurodiverse students. The position involves supporting students in activities of daily living, engaging individual and groups in leisure activities and community involvement, and implementing our therapeutic frameworks. At the core, it involves driving outcomes and supporting young people in developing the skills and tools they need to transition into their adult lives. This position also requires an ability to take initiative and a desire to lead and provide feedback to team members.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic learning environment and provide individualized supports to students based on learning and treatment needs
  • Support students with daily stressors using therapeutic frameworks supported by Ivy Street including CPI, PBIS and the ARC Framework of Trauma-Informed Care and demonstrates mastery of these treatment models
  • Engage with students throughout all daily activities and lessons and support them in accessing residential programming – make learning fun and joyful. Help build and strengthen students’ relationships with skill building and academic success.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students to support their engagement in ADLs, activities and opportunities in the community
  • Knowledgeable of residential students’ treatment goals and crisis plans
  • Complete program communication and documentation requirements, including daily student progress summaries, incident reports, etc.
  • Lead off campus school trips to enhance skills in the community
  • Develop positive relationships with families and communicate effectively
  • Participate in crisis intervention as needed
  • Support students in building afternoon and evening routines and increasing their independence
  • Plan and implement scheduled programming during each shift to provide structure and learning opportunities for students
  • Instruct activities of daily living in the residence and in the community *
  • Maintain a therapeutic residential environment by ensuring the highest standards of health and safety and implementing school-wide therapeutic frameworks
  • Work closely with residential team to provide milieu support and engage students in enrichment- and learning-based activities
  • Believe that every person has the agency to build a life that brings them joy. Help them build the skills that will help them achieve it

Responsibilities Unique to Therapeutic Community Supervisor:

  • Expected to lead the residential shifts
  • Ensures all daily documentation is completed by the residential team to the highest standards of quality
  • Demonstrates strong understanding and master of appropriate student/staff relationships & professional boundaries
  • Will provide bi-weekly supervision to residential counselors
  • Actively participate in weekly supervisor meetings
  • Expected to lead crisis interventions as needed
  • Expected to lead community-based trips
  • Demonstrates strong group management skills
  • Expected to actively participate/bring agenda to weekly Res Dept Team meetings
  • Expected to provide all residential team members with feedback related to meeting expected job duties of their roles on a day-to-day basis

Competencies & Skills:

  • Demonstrates mastery of CPI, PBIS and ARC models of treatment
  • Demonstrates consistent leadership skills and proficiency at providing team members with feedback
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience preferred, but not required

Licensure, Degree, and Certification Required:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Special Education, Social Work, Education, Psychology, or related field
  • Experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree as approved by the Ivy Street School Leadership Team
  • Previous experience preferred, but not required
  • Some holiday shifts required
  • A valid driver’s license
  • A background check, drug and alcohol test will be performed prior to start
  • CPR and First Aid required, offered upon hire

Week 2:

  • Tuesday - 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM

  • Sunday - 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $23.00 per hour
