Role Summary:
We are looking for a Special Education Instructor to become an integral part of our team. The ideal candidate will be an innovative educator with a flexible mindset and a forward-thinking approach. Responsibilities include establishing positive relationships with students and tailoring curriculum to accommodate diverse learning needs. The instructor will collaborate with an Education Counselor in a classroom setting with 6-8 students or work alongside a Co-Teacher and a second Education Counselor in a larger classroom of 14 students. This role involves teaching, lesson planning, integrating technology, writing IEPs, and assessing student progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging lessons aligned with student IEP objectives and individual learning styles.
- Select and utilize appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and materials that cater to the diverse needs of students, incorporating a Project-Based Learning framework.
- Develop IEP goals and actively participate in annual IEP meetings and reevaluation discussions.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress and use data to guide academic planning.
- Manage classroom behavior through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in collaboration with the behavior team.
- Facilitate weekly meetings with the treatment team to discuss student support and classroom dynamics.
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding student achievements and progress.
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to evaluate student progress and identify additional support needs.

Our approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, utilizing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and Restorative Justice principles to foster positive behavior and character development. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Certification in Special Education for grades 5-12, with a preference for Moderate Disabilities.
- Experience working with neurodiverse students is preferred.
- Familiarity with transition-based curriculum is advantageous.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening prior to employment.
- CPR and First Aid certification will be provided upon hire.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
