Galveston College is a comprehensive institution, which places primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each of the following areas throughout their employment at the College. The radiography faculty's responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching students, being responsible for coordinating clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the program director; evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of clinical experiences for the concentration(s) students are enrolled in; provide clinical instruction and document the evaluation and progression of clinical performance leading to clinical competence; and develop new and maintain current clinical affiliations at facilities for clinical and externship.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate from a JRCERT accredited radiography program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist & TMB
  • Must be able to travel to all clinical locations;
  • Proficient in using the computer;
  • Bachelor's degree or higher;
  • Proficiency in radiographic image evaluation, patient care, radiographic procedures, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and guidance.

Qualifications

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction in LMRT courses at Dickenson High School

Position Summary:

  • Instruct students in the Dickinson High School
  • Present a positive professional image.
  • Maintain the goals and philosophy of the Galveston College LMRT Program

Specific Duties:

  • Create and teach LMRT curriculum in multiply Radiography classes
  • Provide assigned students with professional guidance in performing prescribed radiologic procedures.
  • Arrange and or perform evaluation of students to document their progress toward the established program objectives.
  • Assure that adequate assistance and proper direct or indirect supervision is provided to all assigned students.
  • Assure that safe and responsible measures are taken to provide good patient care with maintaining the ALARA principle.
  • Provide and maintain proper documentation to include clinical performance, counseling and attendance.
  • Participate in Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Maintain a strong link of communication with the Program faculty, as well as between the clinical site.

The Clinical Preceptor/Instructor must be thoroughly familiar with:

  • The routines and procedures of the program affiliates.
  • The program's clinical evaluation system.
  • The rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Galveston College Radiography Program.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • check for attendance and tardiness, fill out appropriate documentation and document via Trajecsys
  • provide assistance as needed
  • check to be sure students are in proper uniform with film badge, markers, record of required clinical competencies, and required identification
  • check to be sure students are completing clinical expectations.

Professional Guidance:

Students learn by example as well as practice. Being able to perform examinations with technical perfection is only a part of the overall picture of Radiologic Technologist.

The student must also be proficient in:

  • relationships with other students, staff and physicians
  • performing well under stressful conditions
  • demonstrating a desire to improve the profession
  • maintaining a positive attitude toward patients
  • providing quality patient care

In order for the student to achieve competence in these areas the Clinical Preceptor/Instructor must be an example and the preceptor/instructor must also strive for improvement through communication with the students, technologists and administration.


  1. Written Reprimand - a formal notice of further discipline for repeat offenses. It must be signed by the clinical instructor and the student. The Clinical Coordinator is to be notified of the reprimand and a copy of the reprimand sent to the Coordinator.

  1. Sending the student home - this action may be taken for situations that cannot be resolved at the clinical site, or when it is in the best interest of the student and/or clinical site to send the student home. The Clinical Coordinator or other program official should be notified immediately if this action is taken.

  1. Removal of the student from the clinical site - this measure requires mutual agreement by both the Program Director and the clinical site. Thorough documentation must be achieved prior to the point of removal.
