Welding Program Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Welding Instructor / Program Director is responsible for overseeing the technical and vocational programs related to welding at Galveston College. Reporting to the Division Director of Business, Science and Technology, this role encompasses both instructional and administrative responsibilities. The individual will ensure the curriculum's quality and effectiveness, manage program operations, and provide guidance to students and faculty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the program budget;
- Facilitate course scheduling and resolve any conflicts with other departments;
- Evaluate and mentor adjunct faculty members within the department;
- Conduct departmental advisory meetings and maintain accurate records;
- Lead recruitment initiatives to attract prospective students to the program;
- Ensure compliance with grading and examination policies;
- Participate in program reviews and evaluations to enhance educational offerings;
- Maintain safety standards and promote a secure learning environment;
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the program's success.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field with a minimum of three years of welding experience; or an Associate degree in Welding Technology with at least five years of welding experience;
- Valid certifications in welding;
- Experience in developing and managing welding programs;
- Strong organizational and communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting;
- Prior teaching experience is preferred.
Work Environment:
- Primarily in a controlled environment with limited safety hazards, but may involve physical activities requiring strength and stamina.
