Job Summary:


The Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the beverage operations, ensuring the quality of service, and managing the beverage staff. This role includes maintaining inventory, monitoring compliance with health and safety regulations, and delivering an exceptional guest experience.


Key Responsibilities:


Supervision and Leadership:

  • Supervise and train beverage staff to ensure high standards of service.
  • Schedule shifts and manage staff schedule.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates and feedback.


Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily beverage operations, including the preparation and service of drinks.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area.
  • Ensure uniform, nametags, and personal appearance are clean, hygienic, professional and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by managers.


Customer Service:

  • Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and effectively
  • Ensure a positive and friendly customer experience.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regular patrons.
  • Assist in budget preparation and financial planning for the beverage department.
  • Monitor and control costs, including labor, supplies, and waste.
  • Analyze sales and revenue reports to identify areas for improvement.


Menu and Quality Control:

  • Develop and update beverage menus in collaboration with the Beverage Manager.
  • Ensure the quality and presentation of all beverages served.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and introduce new drink offerings.


Compliance and Training:

  • Ensure staff adherence to all legal requirements, including age restrictions and licensing laws.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for beverage staff.


Safety and Security

  • Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  • Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
  • Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.
  • Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
  • Complete appropriate safety training and certifications to perform work tasks.
  • Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
  • Maintain awareness of undesirable persons on property premises.


Policies and Procedures

  • Protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Protect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers.
  • Follow company and department policies and procedures.
  • Anticipate guests' service needs, including asking questions of guests to better understand their needs and watching/listening to guest preferences and acting on them whenever possible.

General Food and Beverage Operations:

  • Follow appropriate procedures for serving alcohol (e.g., TIPs (Training for Intervention Procedures), CARE (Control Alcohol Risks Effectively).
  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.
  • Set tables according to type of event and service standards, including types of linens, glassware, plate/chinaware, and silver/flatware, ensuring all supplies meet quality standards.
  • Will be responsible for the daily and weekly alcohol inventory.
  • Follow the standard recipes.
  • Be mindful of beverage pilferage in the bar and event spaces where applicable.


Assists Management

  • Communicate with guests, other employees, or departments to ensure guest needs are met.


Greeting and Seating

  • Thank every guest upon departure, invite them to return, and wish them a fond farewell.


Closing

  • Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas.
  • Complete closing duties, including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist.


Bartending as required:

  • Follow all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly (e.g., last call times).
  • Prepare drink orders for guests according to specified recipes using measuring systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and condition of bar, bar unit (CO2 lines, soda tanks, soda guns, drain, etc.), tables, and other tools, following all set-up guidelines.
  • Prepare fresh garnishes for drinks.
  • Document and communicate any incidents/accidents immediately to management and Loss Prevention during shift or event.
  • Stock ice, glassware, and paper supplies.
  • Requisition all necessary supplies, specifically bottle-for-bottle liquor restock, transporting supplies from storeroom to bar set-up area as required.
  • Remove soiled wares from bar top and tables and place in designated area.
  • Anticipate and communicate replenishment needs promptly, ensuring no shortages throughout scheduled function time, and ensuring proper authorization for additional payments as required prior to replenishing.
