The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County was the first museum in L.A. to open its doors 111 years ago and is poised for an exciting new era as it plans for the future. Having recently completed a new strategic framework, the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County—including NHMLA at Exposition Park, La Brea Tar Pits and Museum in mid-Wilshire, and the William S. Hart Museum in Newhall—is looking forward to new building projects and campaigns, exhibitions, community outreach, and innovative audience engagement.

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Coordinator, Campaign for our Advancement department. The Coordinator, Campaign works closely with the Director, Campaign with administrative management and day-to-day operations of significant fundraising campaigns at the Natural History Museum. It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.


Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in maintaining all administrative aspects of NHMLAC’s capital and special fundraising campaigns.

  • Coordinate with external consultants to maintain a timelines for the production of campaign communications assets, including case materials, pitch decks, and external presentations.

  • Update and customize campaign assets according to the requirements of the AVP and CAO.

  • Collaborate with the Campaign Director, AVP, and Special Events team to manage administrative documents related to the NHM Commons Opening events.

  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Major Gifts, along with the communications and marketing team, oversee NHM Commons Newsletter and campaign-related content for the Advancement Newsletter.

  • Partner with Sr. Coordinator of Advancement Services, Director of Advancement Services, Executive Assistant to CAO, and CAO to provide campaign donors with essential materials, including pledge agreements, acknowledgment letters, tax receipts, etc.

  • Partner with administrative and executive assistants across multiple departments to organize meeting schedules and adjust calendars based on priority designated by the Campaign Director, AVP, and CAO.

  • Collaborate with the Sr. Coordinator of Advancement services to ensure that accurate data tracking and recording related to prospects and donors in DonorPlus.

  • Partner with other Advancement and executive team members to ensure that briefings, written profiles, rating memos, event bios, and qualified lists to support the cultivation and solicitation of individuals are prepared.

This position has the following requirements:

  • Experience working in a non-profit, educational, or similar organization

  • Experience with high-level scheduling and tracking of complex projects

  • Successful track record of building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and organization leaders

  • Excellent English language skills: oral, written, and reading, as well as strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Abides by the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ code of ethics

  • Advanced Google Workspace skills

  • BA/BS degree desired, but we will consider other equivalent combinations of education and experience

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience and commitment working with a diverse community. Hourly range for this position is $22.10 - $23.77 based on experience plus excellent benefits. This is a part time temporary, non- exempt position. Temporary end date is 6 month from start date.
