Summary of Key Objectives

The Production Technician uses a variety of light industrial equipment and computer programs in the manufacturing, assembly and shipping of paper products and is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of manufacturing work orders to meet customers' requirements.

Description of Key Responsibilities:

  • Use light industrial equipment in a production environment.
  • Interpret manufacturing work orders for material and order requirements.
  • Follow established procedures for work order completions.
  • Determine equipment needs in relation to work order requirements.
  • Use computer programs in setup, operation and documentation of the manufacturing processes.
  • Perform first piece, work in process and final quality control steps as defined by the operation.
  • Plan effective equipment utilization to maximize output of finished product and meet production requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust equipment when minor malfunctions arise.
  • Perform minor and preventative equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in training, mentoring and best work practices with seasonal staff.
  • Assist in other Fulfillment tasks (shipping, picking, packing, stocking) as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education; three to six months experience.
  • Basic PC skills, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of routings and single level bill of materials is helpful.
  • Experience using JD Edwards is helpful.
  • Ability to multitask and function in fast paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work effectively with Supervisor, peers and floor staff to attain Company and department goals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally throughout the day.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for the duration of the work shift, typically 8 to 10 hours.

Position Travel Requirements

No travel required.

Typical Work Schedule

Standard business hours Monday through Friday, for typically requires 40-45 hours per week.

FLSA Status

Non-exempt position; eligible for overtime pay.

Peak Work Time Requirements

Peak work times include November through January, when additional hours may be required, including some Saturdays.

Working Conditions

General warehouse environment. Work requires standing up to 100% of the time and near moving parts. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and the noise is moderate near certain machines and adequate in all other places. Work is performed using hands and fingers in combination with general warehouse equipment (shrink wrap, small pack, and collator).

This position does not have direct reports.
