The Controller will be providing and presenting the Senior Management Team with financial reports, cost analysis data, and meaningful recommendations, with commentary. This candidate will have a can-do attitude with a problem-solving mind. It will be their job to prepare financial statements that are timely and accurate.

About the Role:

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for general ledger accounting, revenue and cost accounting, external financial reporting, payroll, fixed assets, and accounts payable operations to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial close cycles and GAAP financial statements. This role is critical to providing both tactical and strategic support to ensure all financial operations are efficient, compliant, and accurate. The role will also develop, optimize and secure financial systems, controls, and processes that are scalable and allow for a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization
  • Oversee the accounting department and ensure all necessary accounting policies and systems are in place and operating effectively
  • Ensure that financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP
  • Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
  • Lead company-wide financial planning processes (budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning), ensuring relevance, accuracy, and actionable insight
  • Develop and report progress against the company’s key financial and operational metrics to ensure objectives are met.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve the company's business analytics capabilities, including upgrading planning and reporting systems and tools
  • Provide analytical support for ad hoc decision-making (new business models, product investment, operational efficiency initiatives)
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Attend team meetings (QBR’s, financial reviews, and team events)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance at minimum, MBA, CPA, or CMA degree is preferred
  • 6+ years of financial management or accounting management experience, with significant FP&A experience including board-level reporting and analysis
  • 2+ years of leadership experience (overseeing a small accounting team)
  • Experience with standard cost accounting, forecasting, budgeting, GAAP and Capex evaluation
  • Strong attention to detail, passion for strategic thinking and problem solving, and ability to deliver business insights to drive business decisions
  • Self-starter who can work efficiently and autonomously in the role
  • Excellent written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Business acumen across a professional services organization including knowledge of business operations, objectives, strategies, process and information flow
  • Able to deal with ambiguity: can effectively cope with change, can shift gears comfortably; and manage up
  • Outstanding project management skills to organize a busy workload and deliver projects on time, whilst communicating timelines and milestones to management and stakeholders
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, and Word), Power BI, Intuit and Resource Management
