A staff accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring accurate financial operations within an organization. Key duties include:
- Financial Record Maintenance: Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded in the company’s accounting system.
- Accounts Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable and receivable, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Report Preparation: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Internal Controls: Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls and procedures.
- Audits: Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll processing and related activities.
- Expense Reporting: Review and process employee expense reports.
- Special Projects: Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
