A day in the life of a Staff Accountant
  • Prepare(s) and submit check requests using invoice due dates
  • Enters payroll data in order to generate reports for the fiscal department
  • Analyzes Program budget requests to determine their availability and determine if costs comply with City, State and Federal regulations if applicable.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations on the basis of current policies, departmental operations, and fiscal impact, trends in revenue.
  • Prepares request for payments from various federal, state and local funding sources.
  • Prepares schedule for periodic fiscal activities of governmental revenue funds.
  • Prepares monthly financial status reports.
  • Reviews, recommends and explains changes in budget requests forms, instructions and preparation format.
  • Prepares General Journal entries.
  • Provides information relating to budget requests and recommends changes.
  • Prepares and interpret a variety of financial and budgetary reports and statements.
  • Performs related work as required

Requirements for the Staff Accountant position
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytical ability.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, trust, and confidence.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or will be graduating with a Degree in Accounting
  • 3 years of experience in accounting
  • Some experience working with nonprofits and/or city contracts is preferred
  • NetSuite software experience preferred
