General Manager

Oversee and manage all garment operations, ensuring the efficient coordination of production, maintenance, quality, and related activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and manage plant operations encompassing production, maintenance, quality, and shipping/receiving.
- Coordinate plant activities through strategic planning with departmental managers to achieve manufacturing objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Develop and manage profits, plans, and budgets.
- Implement cost-effective control systems for capital and operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries.
- Manage maintenance of capital assets.
- Establish and monitor overall plant performance, focusing on production and quality standards.
- Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
- Maintain and adjust plant facilities and equipment as necessary.
- Provide leadership and training to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
- Promote shop floor organization and cleanliness among plant personnel.
- Provide direction, development, and leadership to production line managers and supervisors.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the skills and/or abilities required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or ten years of plant/general management experience in the garment industry.
Experience: Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements. Background in manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures.
Specific Skills:
- Proficiency in English; Spanish proficiency preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Proficient with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word).
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use general office equipment (e.g., facsimile, photocopier, and other office peripherals).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit/stand for long periods.
- Frequently bends, kneels, and reaches with hands/arms.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
