Job description

With over 50 years of service, our goal is to improve the health of the community we serve by creating easier access to quality clinical, preventative, and specialty healthcare services. WHCC is deemed by the Bureau of Primary Health Care of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to be a federal employee for purposes of medical malpractice claims and, as such, qualified for protection under the Federal Tort Claims Act.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of a Nurse Supervisor/Healthcare Administrator and/or Provider the Medical Assistant I or II is responsible for:

  • Providing routine and basic nursing care to patients, including infants, children, adolescents and adults in a community health center environment.
  • Ensures services meet clinic standards of excellence and the satisfaction of patients.
  • Participate as the main drivers of direct and indirect care that WHCC provides to patients/community.
  • Supports the provider in “working in flow”. Working in flow balances the skill-task alignment across staff to reduce the overall time needed to perform each task, and as a result, helps to make the clinic day more efficient. In addition, wasteful activities that add no value, but are currently required, are identified and eliminated. This includes duplicate tasks, unnecessary processes, extra physical burdens, waiting, and overproduction.

Setting high standards of performance for self and others; assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed.
