POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grant Accountant oversees and maintains grant revenues and expenditures, implements revenue controls, and ensures the timeliness and accuracy of grant reimbursement requests and financial reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide financial, grant compliance, and project management support for programs funded through various foundation, federal, state, and local sources.
  • Perform monthly grants invoicing, reconciliations, and reporting as needed.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reporting to funders as required.
  • Prepare and analyze financial records on grants for internal management purposes.
  • Maintain records of grant invoicing and status.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly. Follow period-end close-out checklists (monthly, quarterly, annually).
  • Support annual audits as well as grant/project audits.
  • Read and summarize relevant information in grant contracts.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements in accounting system procedures to ensure accurate application of accounting principles.
  • Train on HUD Exchange.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in financial analysis and budgeting.
  • Possess a solid understanding of accounting and budgeting theories and GAAP practices.
  • Must possess professional proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Experience in a non-profit organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience with NetSuite.
  • Experience with Yardi systems.
