Position Overview

As a pivotal member of our team, you will serve as a key leader and expert consultant within an academic or research unit, focusing on the administration of sponsored research programs. Your role will encompass both pre-award and post-award financial management, ensuring compliance with institutional and sponsor guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Guidance:
Act as a unit-level team leader, providing expert advice and consultation on matters related to grant administration. Mentor and coach other personnel involved in grant management and financial processes.

Funding Administration:
Identify potential funding sources and manage grant budgets effectively. Assist faculty in developing budgets and strategic financial plans in response to grant solicitations.

Proposal Management:
Edit and prepare proposal documentation, ensuring all necessary submissions are completed accurately and on time. Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs to facilitate proposal reviews.

Post-Award Oversight:
Administer post-award activities, including financial reporting, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with sponsor policies. Negotiate and maintain sub-agreements as necessary.

Reporting and Compliance:
Generate customized reports for faculty and unit management regarding sponsored research initiatives. Ensure all financial activities adhere to budget justifications and sponsor regulations.

Qualifications

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master's Degree is preferred.

Experience:
Eight to ten years of relevant experience in grant administration or financial management within an academic or research setting.

Skills and Competencies

Essential Skills:
Advanced knowledge of grant administration processes, strong analytical abilities, and exceptional communication skills are crucial. The ability to interpret complex regulations and policies is necessary for success in this role.
