We are searching for a Assistant Teacher for our PreK Program located in Towson, Maryland. This position is a full time position. The Assistant Teacher shares the responsibility with the Lead Teacher for the care and education of children in the 3 year old program. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for implementing daily learning experiences and developmentally appropriate curriculum, supervising children, communicating with parents, and providing a healthy and safe learning environment for the children.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree or higher in early childhood or elementary education or related field of study.

  • 2 years of successful, related preschool teaching experience.

  • First Aid and CPR Training

  • 90 Hour Childcare Certification - desired

  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds multiple times per day

  • Knowledge of gardening and environmental education highly valued

  • Must be flexible and a team player.

RESPONSIBILIES

  • Maintain a healthy, organized, clean, and safe environment

  • Communicate positively with students, parents, and staff

  • Participate collaboratively and professionally with other teachers and staff to promote the general well being of the school and collective interest of its staff and student body

  • Assist the lead teacher in promoting high-quality teaching and learning in the classroom that leads to children’s school readiness

  • Assist the lead teacher in creating and the environment in which children develop trusting and accepting relationships with adult and peers that foster growth and development

  • Assist the lead teacher in designing and executing developmentally appropriate and integrated curriculum that provide the opportunity for children’s meaningful growth and exploration

  • Assist lead teacher in overseeing and maintaining accurate records on each child and updating parents daily with photos and descriptions of school activities.

  • Assist with and participate in special events for families, occasionally taking the lead in planning an event.

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: 40 per week
