Billing Review: Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with insurance and regulatory requirements.
Follow-Up: Monitor outstanding claims and follow up with insurance companies and patients to resolve issues and facilitate payment.
Appeals: Prepare and submit appeals for denied or underpaid claims, providing necessary documentation and supporting evidence.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of billing and payment activities, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Communication: Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing inquiries and disputes in a professional and timely manner.
Continuing Education: Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and insurance policies to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification in medical billing and coding preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or healthcare administration preferred.
Knowledge: Proficiency in medical terminology, coding systems (e.g., ICD-10, CPT), and billing software (e.g., Epic, Meditech). Familiarity with insurance claim processing and reimbursement practices.
Skills: Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Certification: Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) is a plus.
