Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, the Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the billing processes within the HOPD department. This position is tasked with ensuring the accurate and timely posting of physician charge data for both patient and client accounts. The specialist will identify and rectify billing discrepancies while maintaining precise billing information within the HOPD systems. Additionally, this role involves resolving insurance claim issues and regulatory edits related to physician billing, as well as addressing customer billing inquiries.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Certification as a Coder is preferred.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office, is essential.
- Strong skills in spreadsheet and word processing software are necessary.
- A solid understanding of financial accounting and billing practices is required.
- Completion of courses in Medical Terminology and anatomy/physiology, along with medical coding/billing certification or relevant experience, is necessary for accurate procedure code classification.
- A minimum of four years of extensive experience in CPT and ICD9/10 CM coding is required.
- Thorough knowledge of third-party and government payer regulations is essential.
- Medical billing certification is preferred.
- Medical coding certification is preferred.
