Sr. Accounting Manager - Property Management

  • Salary: $80K per year
  • Full Time: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Now for the nitty gritty and the day-to-day of a Sr. Accounting Manager

  • Master and ensure compliance with RPA bookkeeping systems and standards.
  • Lead, manage, and hold all bookkeeping staff accountable, including bookkeepers, payables specialists, and accounting assistants. This includes reviewing and upkeeping scorecards, holding regular team meetings and one-on-one meetings, and performing corrective actions.
  • Provide expert-level support for bookkeepers in difficult or unusual situations.
  • Manage the relationship between bookkeeping and property managers, ensuring clear role definitions and keeping promises.
  • Report to and work with the Director of Operations to maintain the efficiency and high performance of the bookkeeping team.
  • Manage bookkeeping wages, salaries, and hiring to stay within budget.
  • Perform property bookkeeping for high-level portfolios.
  • Coordinate and provide backup for the bookkeeping team to ensure all tasks are completed correctly and on time.
  • Coordinate and oversee the training of new bookkeeping employees.
  • Identify and fix inefficient bookkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Work from the RPA office, approximately 9-5, Monday through Friday.
  • Coordinate the completion of yearly projects, including but not limited to NNN recs, property taxes, and 1099s.

Experience & Education

  • 5+ years of accounting experience in property management or real estate, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Extensive experience using AppFolio or similar software for property management accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office, financial reporting, and other accounting software.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on mentoring and developing staff.
  • Knowledge of local laws and taxes as related to real estate and property management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
