POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff accountant will play a key role in analyzing accounting areas to ensure adherence with GAAP, ensuring documentation is clear and concise and within required audit standards and work closely with the team to accurately close the books to meet applicable monthly and quarterly deadlines. The position requires the staff accountant to be highly motivated, detail oriented, effective at managing multiple tasks, possess strong problem-solving skills, concise communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industry. This position’s responsibilities will be primarily focused on revenue recognition of the Company’s product portfolio; however, this position will also have the opportunity to be involved in many other areas within the accounting department which includes but is not limited to; cash, investments, prepaids, fixed assets, inventory, expenses, payroll, state taxes, intercompany transactions, financial reporting and adhering to regulatory requirements. Also, works closely with the accounting team, other departments, and internal and external auditors.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes for areas assigned.
  • Perform weekly review of sales to ensure recognition of revenue is in adherence with GAAP.
  • Perform detailed cash receipt analysis to ensure insurance reimbursements and impact on revenue is properly reflected in the General Ledger.
  • Analyze appropriateness of allowance for doubtful accounts and revenue reserves.
  • Assisting with accounts receivable function such as collections, posting cash, analyzing aging to identify slow-paying customers and working closely with sales team to ensure all support is received in sales recorded.
  • Generating ad-hoc reports and statements for internal use, as needed
  • Assist in streamlining and improving processes and identifying areas of performance improvement.
  • Play a key role in ERP and systematic upgrades and efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure documentation/support created of all work performed is clear, concise, auditable and adheres to internal control policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance on all internal and external audit requests timely & effectively.
  • Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting, and comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years private or public accounting experience
  • Understanding of intermediate principles of accounting
  • Strong ERP skills
  • Intermediate excel skills required
  • Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills
  • High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability of final work product
  • Works well in a team environment, positive attitude
