Job DescriptionJob Description

Will serve as head of our Teen Center whose mission is to provide recreational, educational, social service and leadership opportunities in a safe and supportive environment to middle and high school age kids in New Trier Township. The ED will also run YAP, a weekly program for youth with special needs. All services provided through our Field House located at 680 Greenwood in Glencoe (with some off site programs at nearby locations). GYS has been operating a teen drop in center for over 50 years, run by a Board of Directors.

Teen Center is open Monday - Friday 3:30-6pm for middle schoolers, some Thursdays 6-8:30pm for special needs program and 2-3x/month we have weekend programming (examples; Saturday 10am- noon morning of service, Friday 6-9pm girls night murder mystery dinner, Sunday food drive 9am-3pm, Sat night Battle of Bands, Fun Run Sunday 7am- noon). Additional in person hours include attending community events and meetings, attending networking events, meeting with the staff of other area orgs., grant hearings, GYS monthly board meetings, general Field House upkeep and shopping for supplies. Other hours can be done at the Field House office or from home. Summers are closed when school is out aside from occasional pop up programs (options for summers off). Benefits - if needed we can discuss options

  • - Program plan for Teen Center and some community/family programs

  • - Outreach and PR including networking and meetings

  • - Fundraising through some income programs and events

  • - Fundraising through grant writing

  • - Write annual donor letter, work with mailing company to send to village/past donors.

  • - Send Thank You notes to every donor.

  • - Staffing 4x/year noon to midnight Casino events with Rockford Gaming

  • - Securing sponsorships from local businesses and individuals for some programs

  • - Maintain and create where needed all agency social media, newsletters, invites,

    program flyers, eblasts through constant contact

  • - Board Development

  • - Maintain donor master list and database and constant contact.

  • - With Treasurer create annual budget and work within that budget to meet each line

    item goal. Fill out monthly report to Bookkeeper of all income and expenses,

    tracking all income and expenses throughout the year.

  • - Help board to plan annual benefit and Scholarship event

  • - Maintain Field House with local Park District

  • - Shop for all Field House and program supplies

  • - Keep all licenses, insurance and similar updated

  • - Get mail from post office weekly and send all bills and donations to Bookkeeper

  • - Follow all agency by - laws and personnel policies

    Job Requirements:

    College Degree
    Criminal Background Check (CBC) Prior experience working with youth Marketing and writing experience a plus Computer and social media savvy.
