JOB SUMMARY:
The Construction Management Intern will work alongside experienced project managers and construction professionals to gain insight into various aspects of construction project management. The intern will be exposed to project planning, scheduling, budgeting, estimating, site supervision, and client interaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
- Project Planning: Assist in the development of project plans, including defining scope, setting objectives, and establishing timelines, cost estimates, and budgets.
- Site Supervision: Participate in site visits to observe and document construction progress, coordinate with superintendent, foremen, and subcontractors, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Documentation: Help maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, progress reports, schedule, and meeting minutes.
- Cost Management: Assist in tracking project expenses, reviewing invoices, and monitoring budget vs. actual costs.
- Communication: Communicate regularly with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors, to provide updates and address any issues or concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
- Enrolled in relevant degree program.
- Basic knowledge of construction.
- Familiarity with business software (Word, Excel, etc.…)
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
- Ability to operate a vehicle and get to/from work.
- Open to accepting a variety of assignments as may be required to facilitate the needs of projects.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
- Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
