                                                                                    Continuous Improvement Manager
Reporting To
General Manager
Job Summary
Project leader in the Continuous Improvement process. Provide continuous support to all aspects of the business operations.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of Ten years of experience related to defined job responsibilities or equivalent training.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good management and leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of APQP

  • Proven self-starter, who requires limited supervision and direction, yet achieves tasks and overcomes problems and provides effective direction and development for staff.
  • Embraces the challenge of problem solving and identifying and implementing practical solutions.
  • Working knowledge of departmental process documents.
  • Ensure that all departmental personnel abide by the companies polices including but not limited to the following:
    • Health and Safety
    • Quality
    • Environmental Systems
    • Human Resources
  • Manages and prioritizes daily department activities which include but are not limited to….
    • Compliance with the plant business operating systems.
    • APQP requirements utilizing the Gate Review Processes.
    • Adherence to the engineering change processes.
    • Adherence to the “Customer specific” process change requirements.
    • Adherence to quality assurance procedures
    • Assigned audits
    • KPI reporting (Plant & Corporate)
    • Conduct detailed studies providing a detailed action plan and execution for cost reduction, quality improvements and optimization of the manufacturing process to increase profitability.
    • Maintain a current knowledge of the overall aspects of the Manufacturing process, new technology, and processes, attending training courses, trade shows and industry conferences as required.
    • Risk management, ensuring risk is minimized and the corporate reputation is protected
    • Maintain OPEX data in cost savings system.
    • Collect and maintain evidence of Opex project cost improvements and submit for financial approval to the General Manager and Controller.
    • Host and lead training activities (1x1, 5s, Jishuken, Kaizen, etc) per Operating Systems Business plan roadmap.
    • Lead weekly Operating System activity reviews. Report accomplishments for the week, the plan for the next week and recovery plans for any items not on target.
    • Order supplies for projects
    • Coordinate supporting department resources with department managers to ensure project requirements and timing are met.
    • Review processing methods and provide continuous development of manufacturing techniques that will improve in-house capabilities.
  • Populates information for KPI/QOS/Management Review including required action plans.
  • Prepare presentations for weekly, monthly, and quarterly Operating System reviews and Operating Reviews with executive leadership.
  • Investigates, in conjunction with Process Engineers, to resolve non-conformance issues and customer concerns.
  • Assigns and schedules employees and resources for the department.
  • Ensures required Customer Continuous Improvement data is reported via the appropriate customer forms/portals for various CI data tracking.
  • Recommends changes in working conditions and use of equipment.
  • Evaluates the performance, training requirements, growth potential of department employees using employee evaluations, goals and objectives, individual development plans, and succession planning.
  • Evaluates department staffing resource needs.
  • Analyses and resolves or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • Directs, leads and reports to management all continuous improvement and lean initiatives.
  • Follow instructions/direction as required by Senior Management
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Participate and apply Lean thinking in all new model activities

(layout, material flow, Lean check, packaging, internal logistics)

  • Support Plant leadership with implementing & sustaining all Communication Board systems:
  • GM Board
  • Area boards (when applicable)
  • Line side boards
  • And / On
  • Moment By Moment


Physical Demands
Constant communication with employees, peers, and management.
Overtime as required

Work Environment
70% Plant Floor / 30% Office
